Remembrance Assembly

During our assembly today, we have thought about the sacrifice of those who have fought in conflicts over many centuries in many countries. In particular, we have shared something of the Story of the Poppy (click for presentation below).

Following today's assembly, we will be observing a minute's silence at 11 o'clock tomorrow. We have talked about remembering members of our families who have died in conflict - and that this may also be an appropriate time for remembering anyone dear to us who is no longer with us.

Family of George: early 1900s, before WW1

Perhaps you might share with your children, stories and information of family members who fought in the World Wars or in conflicts since: maybe you even have pictures or other memorabilia that they could bring in tomorrow? This may be as well as or instead of making something to wear or display for our WW1 lunch tomorrow.
